Bait testing is performed in standardized choice or no choice experiments, and is conducted at defined humidity and in continuous darkness. The silverfish (Lepisma saccharina) are kept in transparent, ventilated plastic boxes with a shelter. In control tests untreated food is offered to the silverfishes. The tests run for several days and the state of the silverfish (living, moribund, dead) is regularly noted.
